Cairns Packrafting Tours. Adventure awaits you on the Russell River. The packrafting expeditions take you deep into the rainforests of North Queensland, where hidden treasures are waiting to be discovered and explored. You’ll hike in through rainforests, following ancient Aboriginal fishing trails, see hidden waterfalls and explore caves, and that’s all before you get to the river. On the waters’ edge, you’ll inflate your stable pack raft under the guidance of our experienced River Guides, who provide a training and safety briefing. Then, it’s time to smash down some rapids, which range from grade 1 to 4, on an epic white water adventure on the Russell River. This Cairns packrafting tour is Queensland’s first ever commercial packrafting tour. It’s a full day adventure, with a 1 hour hike carrying your lightweight packraft, helmet, life jacket, lunch and paddle, all weighing around 5kg.

CAIRNS PACKRAFTING TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

RAINFOREST WALK
Hike through breathtaking rainforest and wade through crystal clear creeks, following an ancient Aboriginal fishing trail. This 1 hour hike is immersive and fully guided.

HIDDEN WATERFALLS
This remote wilderness area has a rich cultural and natural history. You will learn about both during your walk, which includes a visit to a hidden waterfall, which is also a culturally significant site.

RUSSELL RIVER
The Russell comes down some of Queensland’s highest mountains, its clear waters surging through the hills and gorges. Rapids range from grade 1 to 4, giving something for everyone. No experience necessary.

STUNNING SCENERY
At a distance the rainforest seems impenetrable, but after following the ancient trails and smashing down the river, you’ll see it’s a nature’s playground waiting to be enjoyed. Absolutely stunning scenery.

PROFESSIONAL GUIDES
Skilled guides show you how best to negotiate the rapids, while maintaining a very safe environment in which you can enjoy the thrills and sometimes spills of this Cairns packrafting tour.

STABLE PACK RAFTS
The lightweight pack rafts are easy to carry through the rainforest and even easier to inflate. They’re perfect for rafting down remote rivers like the Russell and are stable in the white water rapids.
Cairns Packrafting Tour Rates and Information
Please note that you MUST HAVE a competent swimming ability and be able to understand and follow River Guide instructions in English, to participate in our Cairns packrafting tours on the Russell River. This is for your safety. English speaking and comprehension will be assessed by River Guides at the time of pick-up; if there are concerns about your ability to understand instructions and communicate with our River Guides, you will not be able to participate in the tour and no refund is available or will be provided. Packrafting is not suitable for anyone who may be pregnant.
Dietary requirements must be advised at the time of booking. The minimum age to participate is 13 years, those under 18 years must travel with a responsible guardian or adult. For your safety you will not be permitted to raft if we detect you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol and in these instances, no refund will apply. What To BringA smile on your dial and a sense of adventure. Please wear your swimming costume under your clothes and bring a towel and a spare change of clothes. Also bring your voucher and money for additional refreshments and purchase of any digital photos you may like as an awesome reminder of your epic adventure. Please leave jewellery and valuables at your accommodation.

Don't ForgetTo wear secure shoes. Footwear with a heel strap must be worn and hire shoes are available for $5, if you don’t want your shoes getting wet. Thermal tops and dry tops available for $5 for hire each.
