Cairns Adventure Group Employment
At Cairns Adventure Group, we’re always keen to hear from passionate, enthusiastic individuals looking to take the next step in adventure tourism. We offer a range of exciting roles—from rainforest and river guides to reservations and marketing—and we’re proud to say that our team is as diverse and dynamic as the landscapes we explore.
We believe in adventures for everyone, including our team, and we’re committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace for all. We have zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind, including on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. If you’re someone who thrives on adventure, cares about people, and wants to be part of something fun, active, and meaningful—we’d love to hear from you.
We also provide ongoing training, industry certifications, and real pathways into adventure tourism careers. See below for more information about some of the roles we offer:
White Water Rafting Guides – Lead thrilling adventures on both the Tully and Barron Rivers, guiding guests safely through epic rapids and unforgettable scenery. We welcome experienced Australian and International guides, as well as those new to rafting.
If you’re starting out, our in-house 6-week training course (run twice a year) will equip you with the skills needed to become a Barron Guide. This is a fun, physical, and fast-paced role— rewarding for those who love the water, teamwork, and high-energy environments.
A Light Rigid or Medium Rigid bus licence and Queensland Drivers Authority are highly regarded, as many of our guides also transport guests to and from the river.
Rainforest Tubing Guides – Take guests on a gentler river adventure through tropical rainforest streams just outside Cairns. As a Rainforest Tubing Guide, you’ll provide a fun and relaxing experience while ensuring safety and sharing your knowledge of the local environment. It’s a great role for those who love nature, working with people, and staying active in a beautiful setting.
A Light Rigid or Medium Rigid bus licence and Queensland Drivers Authority are highly regarded, as many of our guides also transport guests to and from the river.
Action Photographers – If you’re quick on the trigger and love being in the thick of the action, this role is for you. Our action photographers capture the thrills and spills of rafting trips, delivering high-quality, exciting images that guests can take home. You’ll need a sharp eye, a good sense of timing, and the ability to work in fast-paced, wet conditions. Experience with cameras and editing software is a bonus, but passion and enthusiasm are key.
Rainforest Tour Guides – Lead small groups into the heart of the Daintree Rainforest or through the stunning waterfalls of the Atherton Tablelands. As a guide, you’ll share insights about the unique flora, fauna, and history of the region. Our guides are engaging storytellers who love connecting with people and showcasing the natural beauty of Far North Queensland. This is also a driving role, so applicants must hold (or be willing to obtain) a Light or Medium Rigid licence and a Queensland Driving Authorisation.
Customer Service Team – If you’re great with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, quick at problem solving – our reservations team is the place for you. You’ll be helping guests book their adventures, coordinating transfers, answering questions, and representing the Cairns Adventure Group experience with confidence and care. This is a customer service role with heart and hustle!
