Trinity Inlet Cairns Waterfront
Trinity Inlet serves as the port for Cairns city and is home to the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal, Reef Fleet Terminal and Marlin Marina. More than that though, Trinity Inlet is an extensive marine landscape where the rainforest hills and rivers, slide into the sea with thick mangrove forests lining the border between the two. It provides habitat for a diverse array of fauna and flora, including saltwater crocodiles and over 40 species of fish.
Where Is Trinity Inlet? – Trinity Inlet is on the Cairns waterfront and extends nearly 9km inland. The city is on one side and today the other side is largely mangroves, but it’s land that is being rehabilitated following failed attempts to grow sugar cane there in the 1970s.
Welcome To Country – There are several Traditional Owners of the Trinity Inlet and Cairns area. The Yidinji (pronounced Yidinjee) are the Traditional Custodians of the land including Cairns, south to the Russell River and west to parts of the Atherton Tablelands. The Gimuy Walubarra Yidinji were south of Cairns and surrounds and the Mandingalbay Yidinji were east of Cairns, across the Trinity Inlet to Yarrabah. Our marine tours are conducted in the waters of Trinity Inlet. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
Cairns Adventure Group Has Several Tours Operating Daily In Trinity Inlet. River Cruises, Sunset Cruises, Jet Boat Tours and Self-Guided Fishing Tours. All Depart From Marlin Marina.

CAIRNS WATERFRONT TRINITY INLET
Historically the place that is now Trinity Inlet on the Cairns waterfront, used to be a part of the Mulgrave River valley. Over the past 10,000 years this land has risen, diverting the flow of Mulgrave River towards its current location at Russell Heads, then subsided again to form wetlands and mangroves. Despite its proximity to the Cairns CBD, Trinity Inlet remains a wild place, home to saltwater crocodiles and many other creatures. It’s an important marine landscape, with its mangroves providing a nursery habitat for many Great Barrier Reef fish species, while its seasonal wetlands create habitat for waterbirds. Our range of marine tours each provide a different experience here, but all celebrate its beauty. Your Cairns Waterfront Trinity Inlet Adventure, Starts With Us.
