Daintree Rainforest World Heritage Area
The Daintree Rainforest is part of Australia’s Wet Tropics World Heritage area and is the world’s oldest continually surviving tropical rainforest. It’s a living natural wonder, with a cultural landscape like nowhere else on earth.
Where Is The Daintree Rainforest? – The Daintree Rainforest is in the Daintree National Park, which is split into two sections – Mossman Gorge and Cape Tribulation. The most southern part of the Daintree National Park, the Mossman Gorge section, is about an 80-minute drive north of Cairns. While its northern reaches, around Cape Tribulation, is 140km north of Cairns.
Welcome To Country – The Traditional Owners of the Daintree Rainforest area, including Mossman Gorge and Cape Tribulation, is the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people. They are true rainforest people, with a deep understanding, respect, and knowledge for this ancient environment. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
