Cairns Adventure Group are proud to sponsor the Australian Women’s Rafting Team.
Cairns Adventure Group and Foaming Fury are proud to announce their sponsorship of the Australian Open Women’s Rafting Team for the 2019 IRF World Rafting Championships.
The World Championships will be taking place only 2 hours from Cairns on the Tully River between the 13th and 20th of May and comprise over 300 of the world’s best rafters from 16 different countries, participating in the sport’s largest competition. The Australian Open Women’s Rafting Team will be competing in all 4 events- the sprint, Head 2 Head, Slalom and Downriver.
As Cairns’ only locally owned and operated rafting company, Foaming Fury has been operating in the region since 1986 and has been making moves towards promotion of women in the industry since current owner, Roderic Rees purchased the company in 2014. With several women currently on the Foaming Fury team, the company are still pushing for greater inclusion.
Owner and Managing Director Roderic Rees said ‘women are generally under-represented in the rafting industry and although we are seeing increasing numbers of women attending our training courses, it is fantastic to see Australia so well-represented in the World Championships and we couldn’t be happier to support them’
